Varner Fitness Overview
Varner Fitness is led by Allen Varner whose integration of therapeutic and sports massage, personal training and group fitness and coaching help people overcome pain and injury, get healthy and get fit.
His techniques work on all ages from children to seniors and from all abilities from immobile to highly fit individuals and elite athletes.
You can work with him at his studio in Palo Alto or at a pool. Allen can also come to your house to work with you and other family members so you don’t have to worry about babysitters, the complications of family travel or monitoring family members waiting for their turn at the studio.
Healing Pain and Injuries
Whether you're trying to recover from an injury or have chronic pain, Allen has a variety of therapeutic, sports, relaxation, Eastern and aquatic massage techniques in addition to athletic training skills he uses to reduce and possibly even eliminate your conditions. Allen not only addresses your conditions during the session, but also recommends self-care and preventative techniques to help you beyond your session time.
Getting in to Shape
Getting in to shape can be challenging. Varner Fitness can get you started on a life-long fitness program that meets your goals, lifestyle and interests. Through interviews, testing and questionnaires, Allen designs fitness programs that progress you toward your goals and toward understanding and managing your fitness yourself.
Swimming Lessons
Allen has a passion for swimming and all things aquatic. With a background as a nationally-ranked competitive swimmer and an avid swimming researcher, Allen teaches swimming to individuals and groups whose ages range from young to old and whose abilities range from first time or traumatized by past water experiences to elite athletes.
Coaching & Group Exercise
Allen has coached youth, collegiate and masters swim teams, a collegiate track and field team and is expanding into weightlifting and triathlon. He also teaches children's gymnastics, aquatic exercise classes and has taught senior group exercise classes
About Allen
In addition to swimming, Allen enjoys ice skating, hiking, running, juggling, aquatic exercise and finding new, challenging and fun exercises to do. Allen is constantly trying to increase his understanding of fitness.
